The 1634 Meadery is open in Ipswich!
The meadery is a small batch, artisan craft winery in the heart of downtown Ipswich!
This husband and wife team are producing honey wine, also called mead, thought to be the oldest fermented beverage.
Mead is not traditional grape wine – it is not beer – it is also not hard cider…. mead is in a class all by itself. Mead is a libation like no other – made by fermenting honey. It can be sweet or dry, fruity or straight up – it all depends on the yeasts chosen and the addition of fruits, herbs, or spices during the fermentation process. They are confident you will find one to your liking! Stop by the 1634 Meadery and see for yourself. Take a tour of the production area, learn about local beekeeping, and stay for a flight tasting to see what all the buzz is about!
The 1634 Meadery is open for tours and tastings: Thursdays and Fridays starting April 24th.
2 – 7 pm, Saturdays from 1 – 7, and Sundays 12 – 5 or by appointment.
